The Dial
This is the original and unrestored dial which, as can be seen, is in near perfect condition. It's a silver-white burst dial with onyx inlaid gilt baton hour indices at all hour marks but '3', where a small aperture, framed with yellow gilt, displays the date function of the watch. The index hands are also gilt with inlaid onyx and are thick and present. The dial is simply signed 'Marvin' with the company crest above and 'Swiss Movement' at the very bottom of the dial, just below '6'.
The Case
The solid 9ct yellow gold case measures 33mm in diameter, making it a typically sized gentleman’s watch for its period, although today the lines between men and women’s fashion blur more and more, so I could easily see this fabulous gold watch on a woman’s wrist. The two-piece case is round with a smooth sloped bezel and a small, very beautiful crown. The case back is almost completely scratch free which is another indication that this watch has been very well looked after, and the engraving is still very crisp and readable. If the buyer would prefer the watch without the engraving, we can have it removed at cost price before it is sent it out, provided the watch and the case-work has been paid for in full. The lugs are strong and straight, and at 18mm apart, they'll fit most of the straps intended for vintage watches.
The Movement
The movement is original and has been very well maintained. As you can see from the photographs this 17 jewel Swiss masterpiece is in sparkling condition, and it runs just as well as it looks. The date function still works as well as the day it was made and my electronic time-grapher tells me the watch runs at just +7 seconds per day, which is more that accurate enough for day to day use.
Strap & Buckle
This watch is fitted with a maroon, genuine leather watch strap with a stylish yellow gold-plated buckle. If a different strap would be preferred, I can fit an 18mm lug width strap provided by the buyer at no extra expense.
Conclusion
I'm a private seller, not a company so unfortunately returns aren't an option, unless of course the watch is broken when it arrives. I may ship 1-2 days after I receive payment, as I work full-time, and may not find time to get the package away immediately.
