A small independent vintage watch dealership that begun as a one man passion project...
The Dial
The original and unrestored dial is in almost new condition, being completely untouched other than a slight graze between the 6 and 7 yellow gilt applied baton hour indices. At 3 a rectangular window displays the day and date functions in English. The original and unrestored index hands, which are a much more orange gold, are in fantastic condition considering the age and are still very bright and reflective in their rich gold colour. The dial is signed 'Swiss Emperor', '25 Jewels' and below, 'Self Winding' and 'Incabloc'.
The Case
The solid 9ct gold case required only a light hand polish to bring it back to its current gleaming finish. There's no significant damage visible on the case, which has very much maintained it's sleek 1970s form. The case back has a few short scratches which can be seen in the photographs. The case measures 34mm in diameter excluding the crown, making this an average sized gentleman's watch for the period, although the lugs hold a significant wrist presence which makes the watch as a whole appear a little larger when worn. The lugs are rounded and almost taper into the outer edge of the case when they meet. They have smooth edges are structurally sound.
The Movement
The 25 Jewel, Day-Date, Automatic movement in this watch has been well taken care of throughout its life and now performs superbly, ticking within 15 seconds per day on the electronic time-grapher. The day and date both change promptly and smoothly, as expected. Setting the watch gives very little resistance, as if the hands glide across the dial, which instills a lot of confidence in the movements construction and condition. The movement is a caliber AS 1609, as is inscribed under the balance wheel. Having just come back from our master watchmaker with a new crown, mainspring and a fully serviced movement this watch will perform confidently and reliably for its wearer for years to come, given the correct treatment. For this reason Vintage Watches UK can confidently provide a 12 month warranty on any performance issues with this movement, excluding that caused by undue or accidental damage.
Strap & Buckle
This watch is fitted with a black gloss faux-leather watch strap and a matching yellow gold-plated buckle. If a different strap would be preferred, I can fit a 18mm strap provided by the buyer at no extra expense.
Conclusion
I'm a private seller, not a company so unfortunately returns aren't an option, unless of course the watch is broken when it arrives. I may ship 1-2 days after I receive payment, as I work full-time, and may not find time to get the package away immediately.
